55% HEMP + 45% RECYCLED POLYESTER

Designed and tested for chefs, by chefs..

This jacket was designed based on survey responses of over 150 chefs

Top 10 design features of the Airlie chef jacket as determined by survey responses:

  1. Apron tab/holder - The apron tab on the rear of the jacket stops your apron strap from riding up your neck causing discomfort.
  2. Grandad collar - Minimal style collar to avoid irritation.
  3. Durable / long lasting - Hemp has three times the tensile strength of cotton, this is further strengthened by the addition of recycled polyester to add even more durability and structure to the jacket.
  4. Breathable - Hemp is one of the most breathable fabrics in the world due to the hollow structure of its fibre.  We also selected a loosely woven fabric for this jacket to further promote breathability.
  5. Single breasted - One single row of buttons with no overlap of fabric along the front of the jacket for functionality and comfort.
  6. Sleeve pocket - One pocket on left sleeve with slots wide enough to fit thick permanent markers.
  7. Scoop back hem - The back of the jacket scoops down for full coverage when bending over.
  8. Non-removable buttons - High quality press-stud buttons with fabric backing so that the buttons don't make contact directly with your skin.
  9. Comfortable - Fit tested for all sizes (XS - 3XL) / back pleats for extra movement / side slit hems for extra movement / high quality fabric.
  10. Sustainable - Hemp is an exceptionally environmentally positive fabric, paired with recycled polyester certified by GRS (Global Recycling Standard).
To find your perfect fit
1) Grab a ruler
2) Grab your old chef jacket
3) Compare the measurements of your old chef jacket with the measurements above

LOOK AFTER YOUR JACKET AND YOUR JACKET WILL LOOK AFTER YOU..

There's one key rule for looking after your hemp jacket and that is to NOT USE CHLORINE BLEACH - hemp fibres are held together by pectins that dissolve in chlorine..

Apart from the above rule, you can't really go wrong in taking care of your hemp chef jacket..

1) If there are stains or marks on the jacket spray them with a stain removal spray (like vanish) then wait 5 minutes before placing in the washing machine, you could also use a laundry soap bar instead of the spray. I know that many of you love to pre-soak your soiled chef jackets too, that is perfectly fine just make sure you don't use chlorine bleach (oxygen bleaches are ok) and avoid soaking your clothes in products that contain sodium percarbonate as it's not good for the fittings of any garment.

2) Machine wash in cold or warm water - our recommendation for a great eco-friendly laundry detergent for whites is the 'Australian eucalyptus laundry powder' by 'simply clean'- another hack for brighter whites is to throw a cup of baking soda in the wash cycle too.

3) Air-drying is best but if you need to tumble-dry please do so on a low heat.

4) Ironing your jacket is perfectly fine - use the steam setting for best results.

Bonus ironing hack - This jacket has some very good wrinkle-resistant qualities especially compared with other chef jackets - We've found that if you grab your jacket out of the washing machine as soon as the wash cycle finishes (don't leave it sitting in the machine after the cycle has ended) and hang it straight on a coat hanger to dry, you will only have to iron your jacket every 3 or so washes as it doesn't wrinkle easily.

the XXS size that I bought didn’t meet with my expectations because the fit was too long. I do prefer a shorter fit

SIMPLY THE BEST

I have been in the industry for 14 years and this is honestly by a country mile the best chef jacket I have ever worn. Can’t wear anything else again!

One black and one white jacket

I am satisfactory about these two jackets as a whole. The materials look sturdy and durable. However, the white looks a bit dull and slightly grey…still need to iron the jacket if want to get a decent look.
